It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? Summer Binge Part 1

This week I finished:

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

Eleanor and Park

This was a book that I think many students will connect with. I must say that the characters in this were refreshingly real. It’s rare for me to find a YA book with characters who actually act like young adults, so when I do find one, I recommend the heck out of it.

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi

Under-the-Never-Sky-Through-the-Ever-Night

These are the first two books in a science fiction dystopian series. The earth is being ravaged by lightning storms, and Earth’s population has been divided into two groups: Dwellers, who live in compounds under the earth and rely on virtual technology to help them escape into “Realms,” and Outsiders, who live in tribes in primitive conditions.  The two groups do not trust each other, but they must learn to work together to find the last habitable places on the planet.

This week I will be reading:

Orange Is the New Black by Piper Kerman

Orange Is the New Black

Still reading this one. I’ve dropped it in favor of a few other books in my stack, but I’m looking forward to getting back to it in between my fiction reading times.

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefwater

Raven Boys

I’m going to give this one another chance. I tried reading it a few months ago, but it just didn’t grab me.  Following a newly devised reading tactic, I checked out the audio book. Sometimes listening to the book being read aloud helps me connect with it more.

That’s all for this week’s post! What are you reading?

(“It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?” is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. It’s a great way to keep track of what you’re reading and see what others are reading each week.)
